11th Bible Unit Lessons

Bible III Unit 1, Lesson: 1; From Genesis to Revelation:

 

Learning Goals Lesson 1:

Identify prior knowledge of the bible and begin to identify the major themes and people of the Bible.
Be able to support your opinion regarding why something is important. Evaluate your view of the Bible

 

Learning Goals Lesson 2:

Identify how the Bible is one story and how the smaller parts fit into the bigger picture
Be able to summaries the Bible in your own words
Explain God’s purpose and plan behind the key stories in the Bible and how they connect to the bigger story

 

Bible Unit 1 Assessment: How you will show me that you know the learning goals:

You will be either working alone or with a partner make a either a children’s book/ comic strip or video to summaries the Story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations.

 

Class work

 

Part 1: Individually brainstorm and list major people (key stories from their lives) and events from the Bible,
Part 2: Get with a partner and compare lists and prioritize them
Part 3: Read or listen to Acts chapter 7 and compare your list with Stephens
Part 4: Identify what stories you think are important that he left out and which ones he had has important.
Part 5: Read or listen to Hebrews 11 and do the same as you did in part 3 and 4
Part 6: Revise your list and develop a rational as to why you think the stories you chose are important.

 

Now we will work as a whole class to develop a list from what you have done

 

Class work part 7: Make it personal:  Write a reflection on one of the following:

Do you think that the Bible is all true, partly true or not very true and explain why?
How does your view of the Bible affect the way that you interact with God and others?
Why do you think that people have different ideas about what is important in the Bible (and how to interpret it) and how can we know what is important (or the right way to interpret it)

 

Start working on your Assessment:

First you will need to choose a format (do not start making the product)
Next use your list and begin to prepare a summary of the content. You will need a short summary of each of the key stories that you will put in your book.

 

Next Lesson will focus on how to connect the individual stories into one complete story
