MATH CURRICULUM

SCS follows the United States Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. The CCSS continues the learning trajectories begun in the NCTM standards, which provide the foundation for SCS's existing base of standards. The Common Core standards focus on depth rather than breadth, with an increased emphasis on mathematical conceptualization and literacy, both of which support our language initiatives with our ESL learners. Additionally, for SCS's transnational student population, the CCSS standards facilitate both the transfer of credit and continuity of learning with school systems in the United States. To read more about the standards, visit the CCSS website. In AP Calculus, SCS follows the AP Calculus AB Course Goals: https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/apcourse/ap-calculus-ab/course-details.

In primary school, SCS's chosen classroom materials are research-based and combine formative assessment with a steady, patient learning spiral to allow students multiple chances to master each learning objective before summative assessment. SCS's secondary program includes Algebra I/II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus, with senior options in AP Calculus and Business Math.
